Klaipėda – The City of Harbour

The hotels in Klaipėda are more expensive than in many other Lithuanian cities.
Hotels ”Klaipėda” and “Aribe” are situated in the very center of the city.
Places to visit:
There are many places of interest in
Klaipėda. If you want to know more about sea life, you should visit the
Acquarium and the Sea Museum in Smiltyne.
If you are interested in Lithuanian culture and history, and the Picture Gallery you may visit The Clock
Museum in the Old Town of Klaipėda.
Eating out:
There are famous restaurants you can eat at, like the “Bella toskana”, “Bernelių užeiga”,
“Brodvėjaus pica” and others. There you can find
Lithuanian and Mexican dishes.
Shopping:
You can buy cheap and fresh fish at a fish market. Also there are lots of amber shops in the Old Town. If you want some new clothes, visit the shop “Marginiai”.
Entertainment:
The nightlife is exciting in Klaipėda city, because of night clubs’ programmes.
The Legend of Klaipėda:
Klaipėda’s name has a legend.
Many many years ago two brothers went to find their luck, but a huge dragon swallowed one of them and ran a away leaving a big footprint (Klampi pėda) in that place.
Later the place was called Klaipėda.
