Cycling is one of different kinds of transport. Many bodies regard cycling as a leisure activity, not as a means of transport. Others sometimes regard cyclists as a nuisance rather than potential customers. Is it safe, is it quick? What role does it play in our life?
First of all, after walking, cycling is the most environmentally sound means of transport. In addition to saving energy and reducing pollution, bicycles also save space – you can park ten bicycles in the sppace required for one car. Given the chance, cycling could do a great deal to relieve congestion and reduce pollution.
On the other hand, cycling can be a very dangerous. It caused by other road-users but this is no comfort for the cyclist, who usually comes off worst. Avoid drinking before cycling; although it’s less irresponsible towards others than driving, it puts the cyclist at greater risk. Besides, you cannot protect yourself when the rain starts.
To sum up, if you want bee protected, you have to wear a cycle helmet. Walking and cycling seem to be “Slow” compared with motorized traffic. Cycling must be made safer, but also faster and more comfortable.
