Harmful habits and healthy way of living
Everyone grows up having accumulated some harmful habits. Alcohol is the number one drug abuse problem today. Thousands of years ago people began to make alcoholic beverages for practical reasons. During the Renaissance period, alcoholic drinks became a part of European society. It became mass-produced. Alcohol is a drug, a chemical that changes the way the body works because of the chemical reactions in the brain, and it affects the way people think, feel, speak and move. Alcohol is a depressant drug and not a stimulant as many people think. It slows down the activity in the central nervous system including the brain. Depressants affect concentration and coordination, and slow the response time to unexpected situations, people became relaxed and lower their inhibitions. They feel more confident and often act in a more extroverted manner. Alcohol can have both short-term and long-term effects on the body. It is direct cause of liver disease, stomach ulcers, pancreatitis, brain damage, and other physical illnesses. Drinking alcohol leads to a loss of coordination, poor judgment, slowed reflexes, distorted vision, memory lapses, and even blackouts. Alcohol can damage every organ in your body. It is absorbed directly into your bloodstream and can increase your risk for a variety of life-threatening diseases, including cancer. Alcohol depresses your central nervous system, lowers your inhibitions, and impairs your judgment. Drinking large amounts of alcohol can lead to coma or even death. Also alcohol can hurt you -even if you_re not the one drinking. If you_re around people who are drinking, you have an increased risk of being seriously injured, involved in car crashes, or affected by violence. At the very least, you may have to deal with people who are sick, out of control, or unable to take care of themselves. Alcohol consumption is associated with increased risk of suicide in the home. People who drink are twice as likely, and people whose drinking results in trouble at work are six times as likely as others to commit suicide in the home. Surely it is safest not to drink alcohol at all if you are going to drive. Alcohol is involved in about one-third of all serious motor vehicle accidents. Do not drive if there is any doubt. Make alternative arrangements: call a taxi, get a lift with someone who has not been drinking, or stay overnight. Alcohol causes realy seriuos problems when misused.
Other one of the most serious health problems facing our nation is cigarette smoking. Each year, tens of thousands die, and countless more suffer from chronic diseases, as a consequence of prolonged smoked. Most smokers develop the habit during their teen years. I believe the most important thing an individual can do for his or her health is to not smoke. Smoking has been identified as the most important preventable cause of disease. There are over 350,000 deaths each year that are directly related to smoking. Smoking mainly causes death through heart attacks, cancer, and lung disease. Five minutes of life are lost for each cigarette smoked. This reduces the overall life expectancy by 5-8 years. Smoking directly causes thirty to forty percent of the 565,000 deaths from heart disease each year. Your chance of developing lung cancer is increased 11 times if you smoke. The nonsmoking spouse of a smoker has double the chance of developing lung cancer just from being exposed to his or her spouse_s smoke. Smoking increases the risk of developing chronic lung disease by 30 times. Smoking is a type of immune deficiency. The body has difficulty fighting off diseases. This is why smokers seem to get more infections than nonsmokers. By now, everybody should know that smoking is harmful and can also lead to death. Smoking is not only harmful for the user, but it also affects the harmless people around the user that inhale the filthy smoke. This is called second-hand smoke. All parts of the body are affected when you smoke. Smoking dyes the smoker_s teeth and fingernails yellow. It gives smokers bad breath, and it causes mouth cancers and gum disease. Smoking damages teeth and gums permanently. In conclusion I can say that if you are thinking about smoking, think twice because smoking is bad for you. Other habit, which is one of the most harmful, is drug abusing. Among other drugs abused widely are marijuana, inhalants, downers and uppers. All forms of marijuana have negative physical and mental effects. It is smoked or eaten. It usually is smoked as a cigarette (joint, nail), or in a pipe (bong). It also is smoked in blunts, which are cigars that have been emptied of tobacco and refilled with marijuana, often in combination with another drug. The main active chemical in marijuana is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). The membranes of certain nerve cells in the brain contain protein receptors that bind to THC. The short-term effects of marijuana use can include problems with memory and learning; distorted perception; difficulty in thinking and problem solving; loss of coordination; and increased heart rate. Research findings for long-term marijuana use indicate some changes in the brain similar to those seen after long-term use of other major drugs of abuse. Many organic solvents like gasoline, ether, thinners, etc. produce fumes which cause sensations similar to alcohol intoxication. Young people are likely to abuse inhalants, in part because inhalants are readily available and inexpensive. Sometimes children unintentionally misuse inhalant products that are found in household products. Parents should see that these substances are monitored closely so that young child does not inhale them. Sniffing highly concentrated amounts of the chemicals in solvents or aerosol sprays can directly induce heart failure and death. Inhalant enter the body through the nose, so they can damage the eyes and respiratory system, also can cause permanent brain damage. Downers are drugs used to relax or sedate the central nervous system. They can paralyse the portion of the brain that controls breathing, and thus cause death. Uppers stimulate the central nervous system and produce excitability, rapid and unclear speech, sweating, increased pulse and blood pressure, insomnia and death. So if you use alcohol, smoke or abuse drugs you must remember what consequences could be when you start and how it ends. Everything depends on you, and the decision about choosing the best way of life also is made by you. It is important to be healthy and to care about your body. If you really want to live healthy life you should care about yourself. If you want to avoid various ilnesses you should eat a balanced diet which includes lots of fruit and vegetables these can give you the vitamins and nutrients your body needs to help keep you fit and healthy.Get plenty of rest, if you are tired and feeling worn out your body_s immune system is not going to be at its best to fight off any infections or viruses.Drink plenty of fluids these can help your body to flush out any viruses or infections you may pick up. Take plenty of exercise, exercise helps to stimulate your immune system. It is very important to take care about what you eat. In general it is wise not to eat food which is not well done, also you must to eat only fresh food. Everybody knows that you can not live for long without water. It is also important for our health. In any case you never can trust the water which is coming from the water tap and it could be healthier if you use only boiled or mineral water. In spite of eating helthy and fresh food you also should do some sports. Taking exercises at home or going in some sport club could have big influence in your healthy life. Staying helathy requires a lot of resolution to choose correct way of living. You need to visit a doctor constantly, you should take active life which includes different kinds of sport like running, swimming, tennis or something else. You would need to refuse some products and would need to limit the amount of it. In conclusion I could say that everyone of us live defirent life and only from us depends how does it looks like. Will it be healthy, active or passive and full of variuos harmful habits.
