Freedom of speech. Is it important or not?
Freedom of speech is a right to say what we please without a fear of being punished. In my view, it is one of the most treasured freedoms people have.
To start with, without the right to speak our minds freely we would be forced to agree with everything that society says. This right gives us the opportunity to speak our minds, give our opinions, and express ourselves, our beliefs, our hopes without getting permission from some government first and without fearing that we will be put in a jail for saying the wrong things.
What is more, without freedom of speech there would be no free religion, no free thoughts, and even no free choices. Without this right first, we could not find ourselves because we could not express ourselves.
On the other hand, some people argue that people can use free speech to undermine the human rights of others. People’s rights should be limited to express racism, sexist, ageist or homophobic views but people would still have the freedom of speech. All people have to think what they are saying to not hurt other people but still humanity cares about freedom of speech.
To conclude, I strongly believe that freedom of speech is very important for all humanity and everyone appreciates it. “The words sound so simple, but without free speech, the world would be a very different place. “ So we have to value freedom of speech.
