Choosing a spouse is one of the most important decisions in a person’s life. Although arranged marriages have been a successful traditional aspect of family life in many cultures for many years, they, on the other hand, have disadvantages.
It is widely believed that organized nuptials are beneficial. First of all, a financial security is being given by parents. Money may not bring happiness, but a lack of it certainly causes stress in any relationship. Second, a better choice might be made by the parents than their children. Owing to this, close family ties may know better what qualities are desirable in a couple. Finally, family members may be better judges of character than young people. For instance, if people are emotional, their judgment may be influenced by feelings.
However, such arranged marriages might be disadvantageous. Moreover, a poor selection may be made. If this were done, newlyweds would never be happy and such a relationship will be called loveless. What is more, a man or a woman may already be fallen in love with someone else. In this case, if the young are forced to marry, the result will be three unhappy people. The last obvious drawback is that if parents even decide what to marry their children will become dependent. The children will have to obey the parents’ rules for the rest of life.
In conclusion, neither an arranged marriage nor a marriage for love is going to be happy. One thing is certain, people should be very careful before wedding each other.
