The Sky
When you look at the sky on a bright day you can see the Sun.You knowthat the sun is a great ball of hot gases.You kno that the Earth is a balltoo.One side of the Earth turns all the time and day changes to night andnight changes to day. When you look at the sky at night,you can see the Moon.You know thatthe Moon is a big ball which travels round the Earth.We can see only sideiof the Moon which is turned to the Sun. If we look at the Moon through atelescope,we can see mountains on it. But there are no plants or animalsthere because there is on air or water on Moon. By sending rockets and automatic stations to Moon,scientistic havegot very important information about the Moon. The Earth is a planet which moves round the Sun and gets light fromit.There are eight other planets which move round the Sun and get theirlight from it.Earth planet moves in its orbit. Mercury, the smallest planet, is nearest to the Sun and you cannotsee it well.Venus is the brightest planet in the sky.The planet Mars islike a bright red star.Jupiter, the biggestplanet of all, is like a brightwhite star.Saturn is like a yellow star. If you look through a telescopeyou can see the last three planets : Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. One group is called the Great Bear. You can see it in the North. Nearit you can see another group of stars – the Little Bear.The tail of theLittle Bear ends with a very bright star – the North ( Polar ) Star,whichpoints to the North. In the winter sky you can see a great group of stars which is called
Orion. You can also easily find in the sky the seven beautiful stars of thePleiades.The brightest star in the sky is Sirius, the Dog Star. Some of thestars that can be seen are part of the Milky Way.This group has millions ofstars.
